Fold is the term in poker to indicate that a player no longer wishes to stay in the hand and would forfeit their stake to the current pot. When a player declares that they 'fold', this indicates that the player does not have a strong enough hand to warrant calling a bet and doesn't want to play any further part of the hand. A player can indicate their intention to fold by either declaring.
